Project Overview

My main interests are in the applications of epigenetics and differential gene expression as well as potential uses for synthetic biology in different industries such as human healthcare and aerospace. I am currently working on my final year project exploring hibernating and space flight transcriptomics data to reveal mechanisms of how hibernation may protect against the adverse effects of spaceflight. Analysing the differential expression of significant genes as well as their human orthologues and the pathways they are involved in to determine if the features of hibernation could be used to counteract the harmful effects of space flight in humans.
