Project Overview

I am interested in using Bioinformatics approaches to translate primary research and publicly available datasets into healthcare interventions. I am currently undertaking my Masters project which aims to further characterise how spaceflight affects the processes by which organisms age and explore why aging is accelerated during spaceflight. To achieve this, we are using publicly available transcriptomic datasets to characterise how exposure to the harsh environment of space affects model organisms at one of the most fundamental scales. This research will hopefully be used in the future to protect astronauts on long-haul space flights and reduce the burden of the root cause of many diseases, aging.
